Nicholson Scores 22 in Women's Basketball's Loss to New Rochelle

Box Score The women's basketball team suffered a 100-64 loss to the College of New Rochelle on Homecoming night at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fall to 0-5 on the season. The Blue Angels improve to 2-3. 

Senior Dana Nicholson recorded a season-high and team-high 22 points, shooting 6-for-10 from behind the arc, and four assists. Freshman Jessica Gorman notched her first collegiate double-double with a career-high 16 points, a team-high 11 rebounds, three assists, and a team-high two steals. Junior Christianne Perez picked up 14 points and four assists. Freshman Kaitlin Koehler added nine points, seven boards, and four assists. Freshman Kayla Talbot finished with six rebounds. 

John Jay took an early 5-4 lead and followed on a 6-0 run to lead 11-4 with 5:23 left in the first quarter. Ninety seconds later, CNR followed with seven straight points to tie the score 11-11. The Blue Angels then went on a 6-0 run but Koehler drained a three to cut the deficit to 17-15. The visitors opened the second on a 13-2 run to increase their lead to 30-17 but Nicholson made a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 10. With 3:29 left in the half, CNR increased their advantage to 45-24. At the half, the Bloodhounds trailed 59-31. 

Midway through the third, the Blue Angels led 74-40. John Jay ended the period on a 13-2 run to trail by 23 heading into the fourth. CNR began the last period scoring the first 14 points. 

John Jay finished 23-for-62 (37.1%) from the floor, 9-for-20 (45.0%) from behind the arc, and 9-for-15 (60.0%) from the free-throw line. 

The Bloodhounds open conference play on Saturday, December 2, when they host the College of Staten Island at 2:00 pm at the Doghouse.
