Box Score The women's volleyball team made history on Wednesday night as they cruised to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) over Alvernia University in the opening round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Postseason Tournament. This was the Bloodhounds' first ECAC win and appearance in program history. John Jay improves to 19-12. Alvernia concludes their season with an overall record of 16-13.

Brittany Steele led John Jay with a team-high 12 kills and six digs. Freshman
Nicole Aguasvivas recorded a match-high 14 digs and sophomore
Kimberly Rodriguez dished out a game-high 27 assists. Freshman
Brianna Geraldo tallied eight kills and seven digs. Senior
Anna Gevorgyan picked up a match-high six service aces and junior
Mballou Berete finished with five kills. Sophomore
Mirialis Almanzar totaled three total blocks.
The Bloodhounds took an early 6-2 lead in the first but Alvernia tied the score 8-8. John Jay registered five straight and then increased its lead to 16-10. Up by three, the Bloodhounds broke open the set on a 3-0 run to take the opening set, 25-17. John Jay scored the first three points of the middle period. The action then went back-and-forth as the score was tied at 10 apiece. Alvernia took the next point but the Bloodhounds responded on a 4-0 run to lead 14-11. Holding a 16-14 advantage, John Jay registered four straight and would go on to win the second set, 25-17.
With John Jay leading 5-4 in the third, the Bloodhound recorded three straight to hold a four-point advantage. Alvernia followed on a 6-3 run to trail 11-10. With the Bloodhounds up 16-13, John Jay followed on a 5-0 run and would win the set, 25-19.
John Jay totaled 28 kills, 28 assists, nine service aces, seven total blocks, and 38 digs.
The Bloodhounds will now face FDU-Florham on Saturday, November 11, at 8:00 pm on the campus of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD.
