Box Score The men's basketball team defeated Mount Aloysius College, 85-64, on Saturday afternoon in Cresson, PA. The Bloodhounds end a five-game losing streak and improve to 3-6. The Mounties drop to 1-9 overall.
Sophomore
Hakeem Animashaun led all John Jay scorers with 19 points, eight rebounds, a game-high two blocks, and two steals. Senior
MiKing Richardson recorded 15 points, on 5-of-7 shooting, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Sophomore Doug Lecy fell one point shy of a double-double nine points, a game-high 11 boards, and four assists. Junior
Essien Epps totaled 13 points and four assists. Sophomore Oneil Smith and freshman
Odis Gause came off the bench to add seven points each. Junior
Luciano Cruz-Fernandez dished three three-pointers.
The Bloodhounds trailed 38-33 at the half. With John Jay trailing 42-40, the Bloodhounds went on a 21-4 run to break open the game. With 8:53 left in the second half, Mount Aloysius cut the deficit to nine. The Bloodhounds responded with 11 straight points and would hold on for a 85-64 non-conference victory.
John Jay finished 28-for-58 (48.3%) from the field, 10-for-25 (40.0%) from behind the arc, and 19-for-31 (61.3%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds return to conference play when they visit Brooklyn College on Wednesday, January 3, at 7:15 pm.
