The rifle team recorded their 12th and 13th MAC Championships on Saturday, March 4, at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.
"I am very proud of my shooters and the job they did this year," head coach
Vince Maiorino said. "I am also grateful to all the past Rifle team members who paved the way to Championship number 13."
The Bloodhounds edged out the Coast Guard in air rifle by a final score of 2253-2245. In smallbore, John Jay defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (Women), 2186-2084.
John Jay concludes the year with one of its best regular seasons in program history.The team finished the MAC conference in first place in air rifle with a perfect record of 8-0 and first in smallbore at 8-1. Sophomore
Lily Graham placed second in the conference in air with an average score of 574, followed by seniors
Angelica DeAraujo (4th place - 576.20) and
Ronald Kopec (6th place - 560.20). In smallbore, Graham once again finished in second with a 558.80. Rounding out the top three were Kopec in eighth (537.40) and DeAraujo in 10th (532.00).
The rifle team now has more championships than any other sport in Bloodhound history.
