The baseball team fell to St. Joseph's College Long Island, 12-1, on Wednesday afternoon in Patchogue, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-7 on the season. The Golden Eagles improve to 1-0.
The hosts opened the scoring with one in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth to lead 5-0. In the top of the sixth, senior
Charlee Rodriguez reached on a fielding error and junior
Brian Garcia drew a walk. With two outs in the inning and Rodriguez on third, senior
Dylan Laudano came through with an RBI single to left field to put the Bloodhounds on the scoreboard.
St. Joseph's responded with two in the seventh and five in the eighth. Junior
Zach Hyde finished 2-for-4 and is now one hit shy of 100 for his career. Garcia and sophomore
Jurrel Diaz picked up one hit and one walk each. Freshman
Jared Hershfield got the start and threw 4.1 innings. Sophomore
Marco Alonso came in in relief and pitched the final 3.2 innings.
The Bloodhounds travel to Manhattanville College on Sunday, March 12, for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.
