The baseball team lost to Purchase College, 9-3, on Friday afternoon in Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds fall to 7-14 overall. The Panthers improve to 6-12.
Junior
Zach Hyde went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Senior
R.J. Davila and sophomore
C.J. Meyer picked up two hits each. Meyer also swiped a base. Junior
Joe Gregory got the start and threw five innings. Freshmen
Sean Napier and Chris Alonso pitched the final three innings and did not allow an earned run.
John Jay scored two runs in the opening inning. With two outs and Hyde on third, senior
Dylan Laudano recorded an RBI single. A walk by senior
Charlee Rodriguez put runners on first and second and Meyer came through with an RBI single. In the top of the second, Hyde drove in Davila with a two-out RBI single to increase the lead to 3-0.
Purchase took their first lead of the game in the third after plating four runs. The Panthers broke open the game after scoring three in the sixth and two in the seventh.
The Bloodhounds travel to Maritime College on Saturday, April 15, for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.
