The baseball team could not hold on to a late lead and fell to Baruch College, 3-1, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at MCU Park in Coney Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 11-20 on the season. The Bearcats improve to 13-17.
The game featured a pitcher's duel between both starting pitchers. Junior
Christian Rodriguez did not allow a run through six innings and had only allowed two hits.
John Jay scored in the opening inning. Senior R.J. Davila got on via a hit-by-pitch, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by junior
Brian Garcia. In the bottom of the seventh, Baruch tied the game on a solo homer. The Bearcats added two runs in the bottom of the eighth and that would be all they needed.
Rodriguez threw a complete game, allowing seven hits, three runs, one walk, and struck out four. Senior
Dylan Laudano finished 2-for-4 with a double. Freshman
Sean Napier went 2-for-3 with a walk. Davila drew two walks.
The Bloodhounds close out the three-game series with Baruch tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm. Before the first game, the Athletics Department will honor seniors
