The men's soccer team came back to defeat Medgar Evers College, 5-1, on Wednesday evening at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-4 overall and stay perfect at 2-0 in the conference. The Cougars drop to 1-7 and 0-2 in CUNYAC.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute. Three minutes later, junior
Robert Lago tied the score at one apiece for his first goal of the year. With 15 minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Mark Schnadshteyn gave the Bloodhounds a 2-1 lead after his seventh of the season.Â
Ninety seconds into the second period, freshman
James Haddad scored his first goal as a Bloodhound to give John Jay an insurance goal. The midfielder was not done as he scored his second of the game in the 70th minute. With 10 minutes left to play, Haddad completed the hat trick to give the Bloodhounds a 5-1 win.Â
Senior
Alexandros Taliotis recorded the win after making three saves. Freshman
Steven Towler replaced Taliotis late in the second half and picked up two saves. Freshman
Nick Vecchiarelli came in for the final five minutes, his first appearance as a Bloodhound.Â
John Jay outshot the Cougars by a margin of 15-12.Â
The Bloodhounds host Brooklyn College on Wednesday, September 27, for a conference match at 4:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 83.Â
