Haddad's Hat Trick Powers Men's Soccer Past Medgar Evers

The men's soccer team came back to defeat Medgar Evers College, 5-1, on Wednesday evening at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-4 overall and stay perfect at 2-0 in the conference. The Cougars drop to 1-7 and 0-2 in CUNYAC.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the 26th minute. Three minutes later, junior Robert Lago tied the score at one apiece for his first goal of the year. With 15 minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Mark Schnadshteyn gave the Bloodhounds a 2-1 lead after his seventh of the season.

Ninety seconds into the second period, freshman James Haddad scored his first goal as a Bloodhound to give John Jay an insurance goal. The midfielder was not done as he scored his second of the game in the 70th minute. With 10 minutes left to play, Haddad completed the hat trick to give the Bloodhounds a 5-1 win.

Senior Alexandros Taliotis recorded the win after making three saves. Freshman Steven Towler replaced Taliotis late in the second half and picked up two saves. Freshman Nick Vecchiarelli came in for the final five minutes, his first appearance as a Bloodhound.
