The men's soccer team shut out City College (CCNY), 4-0, on Saturday evening at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds have not suffered a loss in it last five games and finish the season with an overall record of 5-8-1 and conference record of 4-3-1. The Beavers finish 2-11-1 and 2-6 in CUNYAC.
The first thirty minutes were scoreless with both teams seeing scoring opportunities. In the 31st minute, sophomore
James Haddad scored the opening goal on a breakaway. Right before the end of the half, freshman
Andrew DeCanio tallied his third goal of the season to increase the lead to 2-0 heading into halftime. Haddad was credited with the assist.
John Jay outshot the hosts by a margin of 8-6. Sophomore
Steven Towler picked up two saves.
Two minutes into the second period, Hadded netted his second of the game on a pass from freshman
Chris Toledo. In the 62nd minute, Haddad found the back of the net to complete the hat trick. The forward now has seven goals in his last two games.
S. Towler registered his fifth win of the season and fourth shutout. Haddad finished with a match-high six shots and match-high five shots on goal.
The #4 Bloodhounds will host #5 Brooklyn College in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, October 24, at Randall's Island. Field number and time will be posted by Monday. During the regular season, John Jay tied Brooklyn, 0-0.
