Women's Soccer Falls in Season Opener to Cedar Crest; Lily Collins Records First Collegiate Goal

The women's soccer team lost to Cedar Crest College, 7-2, in their season opener on Friday afternoon at Randall's Island.

The visitors opened the game with two goals in the first 10 minutes. Fifteen minutes later, sophomore Kimberly Robledo, the 2018 CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year, received a pass from freshman Katie Healy and buried it into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1.

With three minutes remaining in the half, freshman Lily Collins scored off a corner kick for her first collegiate goal. The Falcons responded by regaining the lead with 30 seconds left in the half to head into halftime with a 3-2 advantage. In her collegiate debut, freshman Brittany Shaneberger registered four saves.

The guests scored four straight in the second period to go on to record a non-conference win. Freshmen Gianna Russo, Healy, and Collins all finished with two shots each. Sophomore Erika Estro tallied three saves.

The Bloodhounds travel to New Jersey City University on Wednesday, September 5, for a non-conference match starting at 4:00 pm.
