The women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season after defeating New Jersey City University, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Jersey City, NJ. The Bloodhounds improve to 1-1 on the season. The Gothic Knights drop to 1-2.

Gianna Russo scored her first two collegiate goals, including the game-winner, to lead John Jay to the program's first win against an NJAC opponent. Sophomore

Katie Healy registered an assist for the second straight game.

Brittany Shaneberger recorded her first collegiate win after getting the start and making four saves. Sophomore
Erika Estro came in for the last 28 minutes and tallied two saves.
John Jay got off to a 1-0 lead in the first half as Robledo found the back of the net. Ten minutes later, Russo tapped in her first goal of her career to increase the advantage to 2-0. NJCU cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 68th minute but Russo responded by converting on a penalty kick to give the Bloodhounds an insurance goal. The hosts scored in the final four minutes but the John Jay defense was able to hold on for the win.
The Bloodhounds host Gwynedd Mercy College on Saturday, September 8, for a non-conference game at 1:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 10.
