The men's soccer team defeated Purchase College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in the season opener at Randall's Island.
In the 16th minute, sophomore
Nicholas Towler found the back of the net for the lone goal of the game. Through the first 45 minutes, his brother
Steven Towler made four saves.
In the second half, the guests intensified the pressure but the Bloodhounds' backfield consistently cleared the box. S. Towler finished with five saves for his second career shutout.
John Jay outshot the Panthers by a margin of 14-8.
The Bloodhounds host the College of New Rochelle on Wednesday, September 5, for a non-conference game at 4:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 83.
