The women's basketball team lost to Hunter College, 86-61, on Friday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Bloodhounds drop to 8-6 on the season and 4-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Hawks improve to 8-8 and 7-1 in the conference.
Freshman
Katie Healy led the way with a career-high and game-high 27 points, six rebounds, and a pair of steals. Junior
Karen Rosario picked up her second straight double-double with 12 points and a team-high 11 boards.
Sophomore
Jessica Gorman tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Junior
Nyasha Howard dished out a team-high five assists.
The first quarter went back-and-forth as there were five lead changes. The game was tied at 14 apiece after one. Hunter scored the first six points in the second but a layup by Healy ended the run. The Hawks went into halftime holding a 36-29 advantage. Healy finished with 17 points in the half.
The Hawks broke open the game in the third when they outscored the Bloodhounds, 28-13. Rosario opened the fourth with two baskets and Healy scored 10 points in the period as Hunter held on for the victory.
John Jay went 22-for-64 (34.4%) from the field, 1-for-6 (16.7%) from behind the arc, and 16-for-23 (69.6%) from the free-throw line.
