The men's volleyball team wrapped up their Pennsylvania non-conference tournament with a 1-1 record on Sunday afternoon in Glenside, PA. The Bloodhounds lost to Elmira College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-23), but then defeated Randolph-Macon College, 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21). John Jay is now 4-2 overall.
In the loss to Elmira, freshman
Alejandro Gallardo finished with a team-high nine kills and eight digs. Sophomore
Rintaro Kato tallied a team-high nine digs and junior
Godwin Sequeira dished out a team-high 20 assists.
Sophomore
Anthony Francois recorded six kills. Junior
Krystian Surdel added five kills and a season-high and team-high four service aces.
In the win over Randolph-Macon, Surdel and Francois both registered a season-high and match-high 17 kills each. They also combined for 11 digs, five total blocks, and three aces. Sophomore
Dylan Senkiw notched a season-high 12 kills and three total blocks.
Kato had a match-high 12 digs and Sequeira finished with a season-high 48 assists, five digs, and a pair of service aces. Gallardo had six kills and sophomore
Michael Wong added seven digs. Sophomore
Jose Peralta tallied four kills and nine digs.
For his efforts, Surdel was named to the All-Tournament team.
For the day, John Jay totaled 82 kills, 74 assists, 74 digs, 13 total blocks, and 12 service aces.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse to host SJC Long Island on Tuesday, February 5, at 7:00 pm.
