The women's soccer team scored two goals in the second period to top Wesley College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 8-6 on the season. The Wolverines drop to 6-6 overall.Â
The first half went back-and-forth as junior
Erika Estro made kick saves on back-to-back breakaways. In the 18th minute, Wesley scored to take an early 1-0 lead. The score would remain at the half as each team recorded seven shots.Â
Ten minutes into the second period and trailing by one, sophomore
Katie Healy converted a penalty kick to even the score 1-1. Both teams intensified pressure looking for their second goal of the contest.
With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Healy found a loose ball inside the box and buried it into the back of the net for the game-winner. Senior
Jaime Bilotti was credited with the assist.
Estro made three saves to collect her team-leading fourth win of the year. Healy finished with a match-high seven shots and five match-high five shots on goal.Â
