The men's soccer team came back to defeat Brooklyn College, 2-1 in double overtime, on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 5-7 on the year and 3-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs drop to 2-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 17th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Each team recorded five shots in the period. Junior
Steven Towler made a pair of saves.
The Bloodhounds increased the pressure in the second half looking to tie the game. With seven seconds left on the clock in regulation, freshman
Dilshod Baymatov scored his sixth goal of the season to send the match to extra time.
In the second overtime period with eighteen seconds to go, junior
Nicholas Towler was awarded a penalty kick. The defender was successful on the kick to complete the come-from-behind victory for John Jay.
S. Towler earned the victory after finishing with six saves. Junior
Mark Shnadshteyn registered a match-high five shots. N. Towler led the way with a game-high three shots on goal.
The Bloodhounds host Hunter College on Wednesday, October 16, for a conference match at 3:30 pm at Randall's Island Field 83.
