Women's Soccer Finishes in Draw at Staten Island; Katie Healy Notches Her 14th Goal of Season

In a rematch of the 2018 CUNYAC Championship, the women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie against the College of Staten Island on Wednesday afternoon in Staten Island, NY. The Bloodhounds are now 9-6-1 on the year. The Dolphins are now 6-6-1. 

The first half went back-and-forth as each team recorded six shots and two saves a piece. 

John Jay intensified the pressure in the second half. In the 56th minute, Katie Healy was awarded a penalty shot. The sophomore converted on the kick for her team-leading 14th tally of the season. The Merrick, NY native is now second in the CUNY Athletic Conference in goals. 

Trailing by one, CSI fought back to tie the score in the 74th minute. The match would head into extra time as John Jay outshot the hosts by a margin of 9-5 in the second half. 

Both teams notched a total of two shots in the overtime periods as time concluded. 

Junior Erika Estro registered four saves. Senior Medina Mulic led the offense with a match-high six shots and three shots on goal. 

The Bloodhounds face CCNY to close out the regular season on Saturday, October 26, at 3:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 75.
