The women's soccer team made history on Saturday afternoon after defeating CCNY, 3-0, to earn and become the CUNYAC Regular Season Champions for the first time in program history. The Bloodhounds conclude the regular season with an overall record of 10-6-1. John Jay finishes a perfect 5-0 in conference play for the first time as well.Â
The Bloodhounds dominated the first half. In the 19th minute, freshman
Jillian Golden jumped on a rebound and slipped it past the goalkeeper for her seventh goal of the season. Senior
Jaime Bilotti was credited with the assist.Â
Approximately 10 minutes later, sophomore
Katie Healy blasted a shot off the post and into the back of the net for her team-leading 15th goal of the year. At the half, John Jay outshot the Beavers by a margin of 11-2.Â
Just like the first half, John Jay controlled the second period outshooting the hosts 16-2. In the 64th minute, senior
Medina Mulic registered her sixth goal of the year to increase the lead to 3-0. Freshman
Alexandra Dadario picked up the assist.Â
Sophomore
Brittany Shaneberger notched her third shutout of the season after making a pair of saves. Healy finished with a game-high seven shots. Bilotti added a match-high four shots on goal.Â
The Bloodhounds enter the CUNYAC postseason as the top seed. John Jay will host #4 Brooklyn College on Saturday, November 2, in the semifinals. The match will be played at Randall's Island. Field number and time will be released in the coming days.Â
