The softball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep against Baruch College, 14-3 and 14-3, on Thursday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 8-12 overall and 2-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bearcats drop to 2-10 and 2-6 in the conference.
In game one, sophomore
Tommi Mandell finished 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Junior
Jessica Barbaria was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs, and an RBI.
Sophomore
AnneMarie Rivera recorded three RBI's and junior
Mariela Guzman tallied three runs scored and a pair of RBI's. Freshman
Briana Schmidt added two RBI's.
Freshman
Julianne Graepel picked up her third win of the season after throwing six innings and allowing five hits, three earned runs, while striking out nine.
In game two, Guzman and Artz went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Guzman also registered three RBI's. Freshman
Nicole Lopez finished 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.
Schmidt was 2-for-2 with two runs and a stolen base. Barbaria and Mandell notched a hit and a pair of runs each. Barbaria also drove in two runs.
Rivera tallied her team-leading fourth victory of the season after firing five innings and striking out a season-high five.
The Bloodhounds host the College of Staten Island on Saturday, April 13, at 12:00 pm at Randall's Island Field 16.
