The men's tennis team earned a hard fought road victory on Sunday afternoon when they defeated Western Connecticut State, 5-4, in Danbury, CT. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-3 on the season. The Colonials drop to 1-6.
John Jay's first victory of the afternoon came at top doubles when the duo of freshmen
Ahror Muminov and
Terry Park cruised to an 8-1 victory. Heading into singles play, the Bloodhounds trailed 2-1.
In singles, Muminov collected his second win of the day after winning at No. 1, 6-2, 6-2. In the third spot, Park also recorded another win after coming out on top 6-1, 7-5. At number four, sophomore
Sean Kim won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
John Jay's last victory came at number five singles. Freshman
Azraf Amer cruised in the first set to win 6-0. He fell in the second in a back-and-forth set but rebounded to take the deciding set, 6-2.
The Bloodhounds travel to Brooklyn College for a conference match on Tuesday, April 9, at 3:30 pm.
