The women's soccer team fell to Cedar Crest College, 3-2, on a late second half goal on Friday evening in Allentown, PA.
The Bloodhounds got off to a quick start when sophomore
Katie Healy converted on a penalty kick 19 seconds into the game to give John Jay an early 1-0 lead. In the 9th minute, the hosts evened the score and both teams would head into halftime tied at one apiece. The Bloodhounds outshot Cedar Crest by a margin of 4-3.
Eleven minutes into the second half, the Falcons took their first lead of the contest. In the 64th minute, Healy responded to tally her second penalty shot goal to tie the game 2-2. Cedar Crest scored the game-winner in the 77th minute to open the season 1-0.
Healy finished with a match-high five shots and match-high five shots on goal. In her first game as a Bloodhound, senior
Medina Mulic registered four shots and three shots on goal. Sophomore
Brittany Shaneberger made two saves.
The Bloodhounds will look to collect their first win of the season when they travel to Sage College on Sunday, September 1, for a non-conference match at 6:30 pm.
