The women's basketball team cruised to a 75-44 victory over Lehman College on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds improve to 9-10 and 6-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Lightning drop to 1-18 and 1-8 in the conference.
Sophomore
Katie Healy continued her dominance in conference play as she finished one steal shy of a triple-double. The forward picked up her team-leading ninth double-double of the season with a team-high 24 points, 10 boards, game-high nine steals, and three assists. Senior
Nyasha Howard also tallied her seventh double-double with 10 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, a game-high seven assists, and three steals.
Sophomore
Jada Rencher came off the bench to pick up 13 points, seven boards, and three assists. Sophomore
Lily Rakitzis recorded 13 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Senior
All'aha Albright added nine points, five rebounds, and three steals.
The first five minutes went back-and-forth as the score was tied 8-8. John Jay ended the quarter on an 8-2 run and took a 16-10 lead heading into the second period. The Bloodhounds scored the first nine points of the second to increase their lead to 15. John Jay once again increased the advantage as they went into halftime up 41-15.
Four minutes into the third, John Jay ballooned the lead to 32. The Bloodhounds outscored the Lightning 34-29 in the second half.
John Jay finished 33-for-90 (36.7%) from the floor, 3-for-22 (13.6%) from behind the arc, and 6-for-14 (42.9%) from the free-throw line.
