Rivera made a layup to cut the deficit to 8-7 in the first but CSI followed on an 8-0 run. Down by 10, LaGuardia hit a basket and Brower drained a three to cut the lead to 19-14 with 11:51 left in the period.
With CSI leading 29-27 with just over seven minutes on the clock, Jones Jr. hit back-to-back three-pointers to put the Bloodhounds ahead by four. That would ignite an 18-0 run to end the half and give John Jay a 43-29 advantage at halftime.
The Bloodhounds defense shut out the Dolphins offense for three-and-a-half minutes into the second and would score 11 points in that span to increase the lead to 54-29. A layup by Brower gave the hosts a 26-point advantage with 14 minutes left to go.
The Bloodhounds would cruise the rest of the half to collect their third straight regular-season victory over Staten Island.
John Jay finished 29-for-64 (45.3%) from the floor, 8-for-17 (47.1%) from behind the arc, and 15-for-22 (68.2%) from the free-throw line.
