In the fourth edition of the 2020-21 senior spotlight segment, Jon Perez sat down with senior Steven Towler to discuss his career with the men's soccer program.

Towler was a member of the Bloodhounds since the 2017-18 season. The goalkeeper appeared in 38 games and tallied 11 wins, seven shutouts, and 186 saves. He was named a CUNYAC all-star in both his sophomore and junior campaigns.

Towler led the program to their best season in program history in 2019 as the Bloodhounds registered their first CUNYAC Championship and NCAA appearance in program history. In the semifinals, he held the top-seeded Lightning to one goal in 110 minutes as the game would be decided in PK's. Towler made some big saves and would eventually be selected as a shooter. With the game on the line, he converted on the PK to send the Bloodhounds to the championship game.

In the championship, Towler made eight saves and kept the ball out of the back of the net for 110 minutes. Just like the semifinals, the title would be decided in PK's. He once again converted as a shooter and saved three of the final four PK's as the Bloodhounds captured the program's first title.

Off the field, Towler boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.66 and recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in three semesters. He is a member of the renowned forensic science program with a major in toxicology. After graduation, Towler plans on working for the medical examiner as a toxicologist.
