The women's basketball team fought hard all game but fell to Brooklyn College, 79-64, on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds drop to 13-11 overall and 10-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs improve to 18-6 and remain undefeated in conference play at 13-0.
Sophomore
Lily Rakitzis led the Bloodhound scoring with a game-high 21 points and five rebounds. Sophomore
Katie Healy registered her team-leading 12th double-double of the year with 11 points, a team-high 10 rebounds, and a team-high three steals.
Senior
All'aha Albright tallied 17 points and senior
Nyasha Howard finished with nine points, nine rebounds, a game-high five assists, and a game-high two blocks.
The first four minutes went back-and-forth as there were six lead changes. With 2:53 remaining in the opening quarter, Brooklyn led 11-6. Healy hit a jumper but the visitors ended the period on a 6-1 run to lead 19-11.
Albright registered the first four points of the second quarter to trim the lead to four. With 7:52 left, Albright drilled a three to cut the deficit to 24-21. Trailing by five, John Jay responded on a 7-0 run as Rakitzis converted on a three-point play. The Bulldogs answered with nine straight points to regain a 35-28 advantage. The Bloodhounds went into the half trailing 39-32.
Two minutes in, Brooklyn increased the lead to nine but Rencher made a layup and Albright sank a three-pointer. However, the Bulldogs broke open the game on a 15-2 run to hold a 58-41 advantage.
Down by 18 in the fourth, the Bloodhounds cut the deficit to 11 on a 7-0 run. Brooklyn scored the game's last four points to hold on for the win.

The Bloodhounds have the biggest game of the regular season on Tuesday, February 18, at Hunter College at 5:00 pm. The winner will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC postseason tournament and receive a first-round bye. The loser will enter as No. 3 and host a quarterfinals game on Saturday, February 21, at the Doghouse.
