The baseball team lost their first three games of their annual spring training trip on Saturday and Sunday in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Bloodhounds fell to Manhattanville College, 11-2, on Saturday. John Jay then lost to Staten Island, 10-8, and to New England College, 21-3, on Sunday. The Bloodhounds are now 1-3 on the season.
In the game against Manhattanville, senior
Danny Wynne recorded two hits and a run scored. Junior
Mike Mescia and
John Vento picked up an RBI each. Junior
Sam Fernandez and sophomore
Chris Meditz did not allow an earned run out of the bullpen.
Against the Dolphins of CSI, junior
Walfi Regalado went 4-for-5 with a stolen base. With the bases loaded, Wynne laced a three-run double to right field and finished 3-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Senior
Sean Napier had two hits and a pair of runs. Sophomore
Stephen Strategakos got the started and allowed two earned runs in four innings. Meditz and sophomore
Paul Slawson threw two scoreless innings apiece.
In the final game of the day vs. New England, senior
Juan Castillo tallied a hit and an RBI. Mescia went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
The Bloodhounds are back at it on Monday, March 2, when they face Hilbert College in a doubleheader starting at 3:30 pm.
