The men's volleyball team split a conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Hunter College. The Bloodhounds fell to the Hawks, 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17), but then rebounded to shut out Brooklyn College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-11). John Jay is now 5-11 on the season and 2-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.
In the match vs. Hunter, sophomore
Alejandro Gallardo led the way with a team-high 10 kills and three digs. Freshman
Jack Nugent finished with nine kills and two total blocks. Junior
Dylan Senkiw fell two digs shy of a double-double with a team-high 25 assists to go along with a team-high eight digs. Senior
Krystian Surdel added seven kills and five digs and senior
Godwin Sequeira had six digs.
Against the Bulldogs, Nugent led the offense with a game-high nine kills and game-high six total blocks. Gallardo and sophomore
Doobin Lee registered seven kills and a pair of digs each. Freshman
Manuel Peralta dished out a match-high 21 assists. Sequeira led the defense with a team-high six digs.
John Jay totaled 67 kills, 59 assists, 17 total blocks, five service ace, and 57 digs.
The Bloodhounds travel to Medgar Evers College on Tuesday, March 10, for a conference match at 7:00 pm.
