NEW YORK, NY -- In a Wednesday evening conference contest at Randall's Island, the men's soccer team was defeated, 3-1, by Lehman College. The Bloodhounds fall to 3-8 (2-3 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Lighting improve to 6-3-1 (4-1 CUNYAC).
John Jay struck first, when sophomore
Samson Marwieh connected with freshman
Justin Gharbin on a beautiful through ball, which Gharbin was able to sneak past the goal keeper to put the Bloodhounds in front, 1-0, on the second goal of his career.
The Lighting evened up the score a few minutes before the end of the first half, and carried the momentum of that goal all through the second half of play. Lehman scored two more goals, in the 65th and 79th minute, which would prove to be an insurmountable lead for John Jay.Â
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jesus Perez had eight saves for the Bloodhounds. John Jay totaled 10 shots and seven shots on goal in the game.Â
The next time the Bloodhounds take the field will be Senior Day, as they host Brooklyn College at the College of Staten Island. The CUNYAC matchup will take place on Saturday, October 16, as part of a doubleheader following women's soccer. Kickoff is currently scheduled for 3 p.m. Before the game, the Athletics Department will honor seniors
Dilshod Baymatov,
Samson Marwieh,
