FLUSHING, NY -- The women's soccer team shutout York College, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon at College Point Field. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-4 (1-0 in CUNYAC) on the season while the Cardinals drop to 0-3 (0-1 in CUNYAC) overall.
John Jay tallied four goals in the first half and a pair in the second. Senior
Kimberly Robledo opened the scoring in the 10th minute for her second of the season. In the 22nd minute, junior
Katie Healy tapped in a rebound inside the box for her team-leading fourth goal of the year. Approximately 12 minutes later, freshman
Brooke Fontaine blasted a shot inside the corner for her first collegiate goal. Healy then added her second tally of the contest to give the Bloodhounds a 4-0 lead after forty-five minutes of play.
Two-and-a-half minutes into the second period, sophomore
Farrah von Sothen blasted one over the goalkeeper's hands for her first of the season. The last goal of the match came courtesy of
Melissa Orr, her first tally of her collegiate career.
Fontaine also registered two assists and Healy and Orr finished with one each. Graduate student
Cyan Scott and freshman
Lexi Reidenbaker combined to record the shutout.
The Bloodhounds host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Saturday, October 9, at 11:00 am at Randall's Island Field 83.
