NEW YORK, NY -- The men's soccer team picked up its second CUNYAC victory of the season on Friday afternoon, cruising past Medgar Evers, 2-0, at Randall's Island. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-7 on the season (2-2 CUNYAC) while Medgar Evers drops to 0-7 on the year.
The first goal of the game came in the 22nd minute, as senior
Mergim Mehmeti scored on a header off a corner kick from freshman
Kevin Luciano. The defense was stout the entire game, but specifically in the first half allowing just five shots with one on goal.
Sophomore
Maksym Ivanov scored John Jay's only goal of the second half in the 46th minute, after a beautiful pass from freshman
Justin Gharbin gave him a free look at the net. Sophomore
Jesus Perez kept the Cougars scoreless for all ninety minutes and picked up one save in the shutout victory. The Bloodhounds outshot Medgar Evers, 23-5, in the game.
John Jay returns to the field on Wednesday, October 16, when the Bloodhounds take on Lehman at 4:00 pm at Randall's Island.
