PATCHOGUE, NY -- The women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest, 88-71, to the SJC Long Island Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon in Patchogue, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-1 on the year, while the Golden Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles came out of the gates strong, outscoring John Jay 31-15 in the first quarter. By the end of the third quarter, the Bloodhounds saw their deficit grow to 30 points, but John Jay had a ton of fight and would not quit. The Bloodhounds clawed their way back into it with a huge fourth quarter, outscoring the Golden Eagles by 13 points, but it wasn't enough to come all the way back and earn the victory.

Ayanna Edwards played all 40 minutes and dropped a career-high 23 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Junior
Bobbi Green chipped in 19 points and collected eight rebounds. Freshman
Gillian Powell added 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman
Jordyn Ruiz grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and added six points.
John Jay closes a brief two-game road trip against Ramapo College on Tuesday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Mahwah, NJ.
