NEW YORK, NY -- The women's volleyball team took down the CCNY Beavers, 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-17), on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse to advance to the CUNYAC Semifinals. John Jay improves to 8-15 on the year, while CCNY finishes the season with a 3-14 record.
John Jay dominated all throughout the match after a brief hiccup in the first set. The Bloodhounds led 18-14 in the first set, but a 7-2 run from the Beavers briefly gave them a 21-20 lead. However, John Jay fought back into it and re-took a 24-22 lead, and would win it after a set-clinching kill from freshman
Johnelle Pierre. The Bloodhounds would go on to cruise to victories in the next two sets and earn the sweep.

Paige Sadowitz led the Bloodhounds with six kills each. Sadowitz also chipped in a career-high five total blocks. Freshmen
Rylea Sandel &
Faith Harer both added five kills. Freshman
Meghan Smith had a game-high 25 assists and team-high seven digs to go with a career-high six service aces and three total blocks. Freshman
Taylor Hunt also tied for the team lead in digs with seven.
John Jay advances to take on Brooklyn College in the CUNYAC Semifinals tomorrow night in Brooklyn, NY. Game time is 6:00 pm.
