NEW YORK, NY -- The women's basketball team won a nail-biter, 54-52, over the Johnson and Wales Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds are back to .500 on the season, improving to 2-2, while Johnson and Wales falls to 0-4 on the year.
John Jay got off to a commanding start in the game, outscoring the Wildcats, 17-13, in the first quarter. The Bloodhounds saw their lead grow to six points by halftime, and to double digits (11 points) by the end of the third quarter. However, Johnson and Wales' offense came alive in the final frame, as the Wildcats scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to storm right back into the game. John Jay led by just two points with under 20 seconds left in the contest, but the Wildcats missed two three-point attempts that would have given them the lead, and most likely, the win. The Bloodhounds held on to win the game by two points after the clock ran out as Johnson and Wales put up one last shot to try and tie the game.Â
Junior

Katie Healy and freshman
Ashley Zeolla were the other Bloodhounds in double-figures with 12 points each, while also both tallying double-doubles with 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively. This was the first double-double of Zeolla's career, and the 31st for Healy. Freshman
Jordyn Ruiz added nine points while freshman
Ayanna Edwards chipped in two assists and two steals.Â
