NEW YORK, NY -- The women's basketball team celebrated Homecoming by earning a hard-fought 53-49 victory over the Albertus Magnus College Falcons on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-2 on the year while Albertus Magnus falls to 0-4 on the season.
After an even first quarter, John Jay's defense was stout in the second quarter allowing only seven Falcon points. The Bloodhounds managed to score 13 points during that span, thus taking a six-point lead into halftime. Albertus Magnus outscored the Bloodhounds by two points in the third quarter to cut the deficit to just four, but that was as close as the Falcons would get as John Jay kept pace with them all fourth quarter to hold on for a four-point win.
Junior
Katie Healy double-doubled for the third consecutive game, collecting a monstrous 18 rebounds to go with 15 points and five steals. Junior
Bobbi Green poured in a game-high 17 points while adding nine rebounds of her own. Freshman
Ashley Zeolla was the other Bloodhound in double-figures with 11 points while chipping in seven rebounds and two blocks.
John Jay's next game will be on Saturday November 27 against Western Connecticut State in Danbury, CT. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
