NEW YORK, NY - The men's soccer team dropped its CUNYAC opener, 2-1, to the City College of New York on Wednesday evening. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-6 with the loss, while the Beavers improve to 1-2 on the year.
Junior
Juan Nieto found the back of the net in the 49th minute for John Jay, tying the match at one. The assist on the goal went to freshman
Kevin Luciano. However, the Beavers answered to take the lead just seven minutes later, and held on to win the match 2-1 despite a ferocious pace for the visitors all game.
Sophomore
Jesus Perez had one save on the day for the Bloodhounds. John Jay outshot the Beavers, 11-7 (5-3 SOG), in the match, and also held a 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bloodhounds return home to continue conference play on Saturday, October 2 and will welcome Baruch College to Randall's Island Field 83. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
