NEW YORK, NY - Men's basketball uses huge second half to come from behind and defeat the Hunter Hawks, 105-101, in a CUNYAC matchup on Friday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex. John Jay improves to 5-10 (3-3 CUNYAC) on the year, while Hunter College falls to 8-10 (4-5 CUNYAC).
The Bloodhounds trailed by six at halftime, but were able to turn the game around with a huge second half. John Jay outscored Hunter, 59-49, in the second half, which included an 8-2 run capped by a layup from freshman
Jordan Bell, to take a lead that they would not relinquish.
Freshman
Corey Jones Jr. dropped an impressive career-high of 29 points on 9-12 shooting (8-11 3PT). Sophomore
Garrison Watkins nearly notched a triple double, totaling 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Sophomore
Dan Kenny nearly had a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Junior
Angel Rivera added 14 points and Bell had 12 points and eight rebounds.
John Jay will return to the court on Sunday, January 30 for CUNYAC match against Brooklyn College at the Doghouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
