Kayla Kelly Nets Two Goals As Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated In CUNYAC Play; Blank Brooklyn 5-0

Brooklyn, NY - The John Jay women's soccer team tallied four first-half which propelled the Bloodhounds to their third straight CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) win, defeating the Brooklyn College Bulldogs, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors got on the board first as Mikayla Schoch was able to net her second goal of the season after getting the pass from both Jillian Golden and Katie Healy

A minute later, John Jay intercepted the ball as Galicia Monforte put a right-footed shot on the ball that bounced over the outstretched reach of Brooklyn's goalkeeper and rolled into the back of the net.  Co-captain Yomary Cordero was credited with setting up Monforte's second goal of the season as Cordero notched her second helper of the season.

Cordero wasn't finished setting up her teammate as Jillian Golden pushed John Jay's lead up to three in the 21. Golden was able to finish after Cordero crossed the ball from the right back toward the left wing for Cordero's third assist of the year.

The Bloodhounds continued their offensive attack in the 29' as Kayla Kelly recorded her third goal of the season after receiving a thru pass from Healy and was able to beat the keeper to the right.

Brooklyn's lone chance of the frame came in the 39' as Oshen Henderson was able to beat two Bloodhound defenders and graduate keeper Alexa Pyatasky had to back peddle to make an outstanding one-hand save that gave Brooklyn a corner.

In the later stages of the contest, Kelly netted her second goal of the contest, as she and Fontaine located the loose ball with Fontaine sending a one-touch tap that Kelly was able to push to the back of the net.

The Bloodhounds host Lehman College on Wednesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. at Queens College Varsity Soccer Field.
