Madison, NJ - The John Jay women's basketball team's two-game win streak was halted on Saturday as the Bloodhounds dropped 55-35 decision at Drew University.
With the loss, John Jay falls to 4-2 on the season while Drew improves to 5-1 on the season.
Katie Healy produced her third double-double, leading the visitors with 10 points and a team-high 15 rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Bobbi Green added six points while grabbing 10 rebounds, the second straight contest in which she has pulled down double-digit caroms.
The Rangers had two players score in double-figures, led by Gwen Alberici, who netted a game-high 17 points in 30 on 8 of 15 shooting in 30 minutes of play. Joey Meyers filled up the stat sheet for Drew, finishing with 12 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in 26 minutes of action.
Drew opened the contest on a 8-0 run before Green put the visitors on the board with a driving layup at the 6:56 mark. The Bloodhounds chipped away at the deficit, as Tiffany Bogle's layup at the 2:25 mark brought John Jay to within four, 10-6.
Bogle added a mid-range jumper that further cut down the Rangers lead, 12-8, before Green made the front end of a two-shot foul as John Jay trailed 12-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Rangers opened up the second quarter on a 12-2 run that increased their lead to 24-11, after Alberici was able to hit on the layup. Drew closed out the stanza scoring six of the final nine points in taking a 30-14 halftime lead.
John Jay closed out the third quarter on a 10-0 run that brought the Drew lead to 18 (43-25), after Kamryn Hammond hit both attempts from the free-throw line.
In the final frame, both teams traded baskets in the later part as Drew sealed the win by closing the contest on a 7-2 run over the final 5:30.
The Bloodhounds were held to a season-low 19.7 shooting from the floor while not converting a three-pointer in five chances. John Jay did outmuscle Drew on the boards, 53-46, highlighted by a 19-9 advantage on the offensive glass.
John Jay closes out November on Monday evening as they return to the Doghouse to take on Arcadia at 7:00 p.m.
