Women's Basketball Drops First Home Contest Of The Season To Arcadia, 60-53

New York, NY - The John Jay women's basketball dropped its first home contest of the season, falling to the Arcadia University Knights, 60-53, at the Doghouse on Monday evening. 
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 4-3 overall on the season while the Knights move to 5-2 on the year. 
 
Two Bloodhounds finished in double-figures, led by senior forward Katie Healy, who produced her fourth straight double-double, finishing with 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the floor while corralling a game-high 15 rebounds in 37 minutes. 
 
The Merrick, NY native also swiped a team-high five steals, dished out a team-leading three assists, and added a block on the evening. 
 
Bobbi Green added 14 points on 6 of 19 shooting from the filed in her 37 minutes of action. The Queens, NY native had two of John Jay's four blocks on the night. 
 
Scarlett Glasser-Nehls led all scorers with a game-high 24 points on 7 of 10 marksmanship from the field while hitting on 5 of 6 from three-point range in 37 minutes of play. 
 
Hanna Rhoades contributed 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the field. Delaney Bell grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds while dishing out five assists and recording three blocks. Mara Weaver had 10 boards and five blocks in her 27 minutes. 
 
Arcadia opened the contest on a 9-2 run after Rhoades completed the traditional three-point play. 
 
John Jay rapidly responded, thanks in large part to an 8-0 run that saw the home team take a 14-13 lead after Tiffany Bogle was able to hit the baseline jumper. 
 
Arcadia scored five of the final seven points in the stanza in taking a slim one-possession lead, 18-16, following a three-pointer by Rhoades. 
 
Chayanne Kelly opened the scoring for the Bloodhounds in the period, hitting on a jumper that knotted the game at 18. Healy added a layup that gave the home the lead once again. 
 
Both teams went on to trade baskets with Green's layup at the 3:45 mark putting the home team ahead, 27-25. Bell was able to muscle in two for the final points of the first half, as both team entered the break tied at 27. 
 
John Jay opened the third quarter with four straight points after Ashley Zeolla converted on a layup from the feed from Ayanna Edwards
 
The Bloodhounds went on to score eight of the next 15 points over a six-minute span that upped their lead to 39-34 after Kelly went one of two from the line in the closing moments of the period. Green added a layup after stealing the ball away from Maria Tully as the Bloodhounds went ahead, 41-34, heading into the fourth. 
 
Arcadia opened the final stanza on a 10-4 run, trimming the John Jay lead to one, 45-44, at the 6:19 mark as Glasser-Nehls hit from the outside. 
 
The visitors regained the lead with 2:26 showing on the game clock as Glasser-Nehls was able to hit again from the outside, as Arcadia went up 51-49. 
 
Jordyn Ruiz was able to tie the game for John Jay with 90 seconds left at 51 thanks to a left-handed layup after Green spotted her cutting to the basket. 
 
The visitors closed out the contest on scoring nine of the final 11 points in picking up a seven-point triumph. 
 
Both teams shot nearly 35.0 percent from the field while the Knights hit on 33.3 percent from the outside and holding John Jay to just one made three-pointer (1 of 6). 
 
The Bloodhounds held a 45-40 edge on the boards. Arcadia was able to turn 20 John Jay turnovers into 22 points. 
 
John Jay will open the month of December on the road at Mount Saint Vincent, heading up to Riverdale, NY for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff with the Dolphins.
