NEW YORK, NY - It was a fun day at the Doghouse on Saturday afternoon, as women's basketball cruised to a 97-50 over the CCNY Beavers. With the win, John Jay improves to 12-8 (7-2 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Beavers fall to 0-13 (0-9 CUNYAC) on the year.
The story of the game was junior
Katie Healy who tallied her first career triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and a career-high 10 assists. The Merrick native also tallied nine steals in the game, falling one shy of a historic quadruple-double.
Meanwhile, not to be overshadowed, junior
Bobbi Green dropped 22 points, including her 1,000th career point spanning her time at both John Jay and Nassau. She also had four steals in the game.
The Bloodhounds were in control of this game right from the jump, outscoring CCNY 27-14 in the first quarter. John Jay would outscore the Beavers by at least 10 points in each quarter, cruising to their second straight win.
Freshman
Ayanna Edwards nearly netted a career-high, pouring in 20 points, while dishing out a career-high seven assists. Freshmen
Ashley Zeolla and
Jordyn Ruiz each scored 10 points, while Ruiz dished out a career-high six assists and Zeolla grabbed a career-high five steals. Sophomore
Brianna Platia hit three three-pointers off the bench.
