Jordyn Ruiz Grabs Career-High 12 Rebounds as Women's Basketball Crushes Lehman College

NEW YORK, NY - The women's basketball team earned its third straight win on Wednesday evening at the Doghouse, cruising to a 76-41 victory over the Lehman College Lighting. With the win, John Jay improves to 13-8 (8-3 CUNYAC) on the year, while Lehman falls to 3-13 (2-7 CUNYAC) on the season.

The Bloodhounds exploded out of the gate, dropping 25 points in the first quarter. Then, despite being outscored in the second quarter, John Jay led by 15 at halftime. The best was yet to come, however, as the Bloodhound defense was stout in the third quarter and allowed only four Lightning points. John Jay would cruise to the 35-point victory.

Freshman Jordyn Ruiz grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the win, and fell just one basket shy of her first career double-double with eight points. Juniors Katie Healy and Bobbi Green combined for 41 points, and both had double-doubles with 13 and 12 rebounds, respectively. Freshman Ashley Zeolla fell one rebound shy of her own double-double, totaling 11 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Ashley Nieves chipped in seven points and freshman Brianna Platia had five points.

The Bloodhounds will look for their fourth straight win on Senior Night on Tuesday, February 15, at the Doghouse against Baruch College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed via johnjayathletics.com/watch. Before the game, the Athletics Department will honor seniors Victoria Brown, Bobbi Green, Katie Healy, and Brianna Platia
