BALTIMORE, MD -- The softball team earned its first victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, Splitting its season opening doubleheader against Notre Dame of Maryland down in Baltimore. The Bloodhounds dropped game one of the season, 5-0, before winning game two, 8-0. 

After a tough first game, John Jay came back with a vengeance in game two and won the game, 10-0. The Bloodhounds scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning of the game, and that would be all they needed. Junior Julianne Graepel chucked a complete game shutout while striking out eight Gators to help John Jay secure its first win. 

Freshman Rylea Sandel had two hits on the day, including an RBI triple and a run scored. Sophomore Alisha Cherian also had two hits on the day with two walks, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Freshman Mackenzie Tresch had a two-RBI game in game two. 

John Jay will look to make it a winning streak when they travel to take on Albertus Magnus in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 22. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
