BELLEROSE, NY -- The softball team opened up CUNYAC play on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader against the York College Cardinals. The Bloodhounds swept York, winning game one, 26-0, and going on to win game two, 17-0. With the wins, John Jay improves to 4-5 (2-0 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 0-6 (0-2 CUNYAC) on the year.
John Jay won both games in five frames, after huge first innings paved the way for the victory in both ends of the doubleheader. Sophomore
America Rivera fired a complete game one-hit shutout with five strikeouts in game one. Freshman
Madison Gil followed that up with a complete game one-hit shutout in game two with six strikeouts.

Rylea Sandel had a career day in game one, blasting three homers, including two grand slams, and driving in 10 runs. Rivera and Freshman
Mackenzie Tresch also belted homers in game one.

Summer Parks both went 2-3 in game two with two RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman
Alisha Cherian reached base safely three times and scored three runs.
The Bloodhounds will look to keep rolling tomorrow when they will take on Hunter College in a road doubleheader at Randall's Island. First pitch of game one is set for noon.
