BROOKLYN, NY -- The softball team hosted a CUNYAC doubleheader against Brooklyn College on Thursday evening. The Bloodhounds emerged victorious in both games by the same score, 9-3. John Jay improves to 8-9 (5-3 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-12 (0-8 CUNYAC) on the year.
Both John Jay pitchers tossed complete games and earned the win. Sophomore
America Rivera allowed three earned runs and picked up six strikeouts in game one, while junior
Julianne Graepel allowed two earned runs and struck out eight in game two.
Seven different John Jay players had RBIs in game one, while four different players notched a multi-hit game. Rivera went 2-3 with a walk, RBI, and two runs scored. Freshman
Jordyn Prince went 2-4 with a run scored. Freshman
Angelina Schoelles went 2-4 with an RBI, run scored, and stolen base.
The offense continued to roll in game two, as eight of the nine starting Bloodhounds tallied at least one hit. Prince went 3-4, giving her five hits on the day, with two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman
Emily Sperl went 3-4 with a run. Freshman
Mackenzie Tresch went 2-3 with two runs scored. Rivera and Graepel each added two more hits.
The Bloodhounds have another doubleheader tomorrow, this time a non-conference set against St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn beginning at 2 p.m. in Brooklyn.
