PURCHASE, NY -- The baseball team was defeated, 8-5, by the Manhattanville Valiants on Saturday afternoon at Manhattanville Field. The Bloodhounds drop to 6-28 on the season (4-5 CUNYAC) while the Valiants improve to 19-14 on the year.
The Bloodhounds struck first thanks to an RBI from freshman
Michael Mauro in the top of the first, but Manhattanville answered to tie the game in the bottom of the frame. The Valiants then rallied for five runs in the bottom of the second, and the deficit became to much for the Bloodhounds to overcome despite a three-run ninth inning.
Senior
Christopher Nunez had two hits on the day, including his third homer of the season in the third inning, along with a stolen base. Freshman
Thomas Salerno also had two hits and an RBI. Freshman
Ivan Massari reached bse safely twice and also added an RBI and run scored.
The Bloodhounds have the week off before returning to the field for their regular season finale against CCNY. First pitch of game one of the doubleheader is set for noon in the Bronx.
