BROOKLYN, NY -- The softball team swept the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Friday evening at BC Field to earn a crucial pair of conference wins. The Bloodhounds won the first game, 11-1, in five innings, and then went on to win game two, 10-1, in five innings. John Jay improves to 13-19 (10-6 CUNYAC) on the season, while Brooklyn drops to 6-20 on the year.
The Bloodhounds had 12 hits in game one, as four student-athletes notched multi-hit games. Freshman
Rylea Sandel continues her hot hitting, going 3-4 with two RBIs, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Freshman
Alisha Cherian went 2-2 with three runs scored, a stolen base, a walk, and an RBI. Sophomore
Summer Parks went 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Freshman
Angelina Schoelles also had two hits, a run scored, and an RBI. Sophomore
America Rivera started the game and went five innings allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out three.
Junior
Julianne Graepel tossed her second no-hitter of the season in game two, allowing just one base runner and picking up six strikeouts. Sandel blasted another homer in the game, going 2-2 at the plate and collecting four RBIs. Parks and Cherian each added two more hits. Freshman
Maleea Gallaspy reached base safely thee times and scored three runs.
The Bloodhounds are back at it tomorrow and will host Lehman College for a doubleheader at College of Staten Island. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. The team will honor its seniors prior to the game, with ceremonies beginning at approximately 4:50 p.m.
