NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Thursday night, after a thrilling match with #1 Hunter College ended in four sets (25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21) at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks improve to 12-6 on the season, while the Bloodhounds end the year 10-12.
The number one seed in the postseason looked to be in full control of the match after two sets, but the Bloodhounds showed incredible resilience to fight back and make this match interesting. The third set was tied, 10-10, when the freshman duo of
Kyle Barriffe-Johnson and
Akashdeep Singh combined for a monster block to ignite the crowd and team. After John Jay extended its lead to 19-14, the Hawks fought back to cut the lead to just one but the Bloodhounds answered with four of the next five points to secure the win. John Jay then trailed, 16-11, in the fourth set but once again clawed back into it and eventually took a 20-19 lead. Hunter would not be denied, however, and wound of finishing the set on a 6-1 run to win the match and advance to the finals.

Logan Ramos each had 13 kills in the match to lead John Jay, and combined for four service aces, three total blocks, and three digs. Sophomore
Jack Nugent chipped in eight kills and four total blocks. Sophomore
Manuel Peralta totaled 32 assists and sophomore
Bryce Glasper collected 10 digs.
