BROOKLYN, NY -- The baseball team split a CUNYAC doubleheader with CCNY on Friday evening at Maimonides Park. The Bloodhounds dropped the first game of the day, 16-3, but bounced back to win game two, 8-3. John Jay moves to 4-19 (2-2 CUNYAC) on the season, while CCNY moves to 3-14 on the year.
After dropping a tough first game, the Bloodhounds shook it off and answered with a great game two performance. Sophomore
Ismael Tatis fired 5.2 innings giving up just three earned runs and picking up three strikeouts. Freshman
Juan Maldonado helped the Bloodhounds strike first with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the first inning. Maldonado drove in another run in the fifth inning, and than Tatis drove in two more with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-1. That lead would be more than enough for John Jay, who went on to earn the win.
Freshman
Michael Mauro had a five-hit day, scoring two runs and picking up two RBIs. Sophomore
Christopher Nunez reached base safely three times, scored three runs, stole a base, and drove in a run. Tatis had three hits and two RBIs at the plate.
The Bloodhounds will look to make it a win streak when they return to the field on Tuesday, April 12 and will take on Baruch on the road. First pitch of game one of the doubleheader is set for 2:00 pm.
