Men's Soccer Falls To Saint Elizabeth's Despite Tallying Season-High 16 Shots

New York, NY - The John Jay men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Saint Elizabeth's on Saturday evening at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds fall to 0-4, while the Eagles go to 1-2-1.

Saint Elizabeth jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 19th minute but John Jay wouldn't go down without a fight. Just five minutes later, junior Lamarana Diallo stole the ball away from the opposing goalkeeper and found himself in front of an open net and fired.

An Eagle defender stepped in front and defended the net preventing John Jay from tying up the score. After Saint Elizabeth tacked on another goal in in the 56th minute, the deficit for John Jay became two and they were unable to make a comeback.

The Bloodhounds offense was firing on all cylinders in the match, but couldn't seem to catch a break for the entirety of the 90 minutes. John Jay collected 16 shots, with seven on goal.

Kevin Luciano and Brayan Alvarez each had three shot attempts on the afternoon with Luciano finding the target twice. Hans Merilan and Nicolas DiBetta each had two shots and each fired one on target.

Sophomore Tyler Solis collected five saves in the match.

The Bloodhounds will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, September 14 when they hit the road to take on Western Connecticut State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
