Women's Soccer Ties New Jersey City University, 0-0, On Wednesday Afternoon

New York, NY - The John Jay women's soccer upped its unbeaten streak to four after battling New Jersey City University to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday afternoon.

With the draw, the Bloodhounds move to 3-1-2 on the year while now moving to 2-0-2 in their last four matches. The Gothic Knights now stand at 3-2-3 on the season.

Both teams registered 11 shots in the contest with the Gothic Knights sending five shots on target to John Jay's four.

John Jay's graduate goalkeeper Alexa Pyatsky turned away Nyrohah Alvarenga's shot in the 13th minute of the contest. Six minutes later, Alvarenga tested Pyatsky, who was up to the task for the second straight possession.

Sophomore Galicia Monforte had a pair of chances to get the Bloodhounds on the board, but her first chance just sailed high over the net and her second opportunity was blocked by NJCU defender in the 33rd minute.

The Bloodhounds seized momentum, rattling off the first four shots of the second half, as Katie Healy, Leylah Murad, Monforte and Jillian Golden each had chances within a five-minute span, but were unsuccessful in finding the go-ahead marker.

In the 78th minute, Healy broke free from her defender in the box and booted a chance that was negated by Valenzuela. Healy had one final chance to net the game-winner, but her header found the waiting arms of Valenzuela.

Following a foul, Alvarenga was in a prime position to potentially net the game-winner for the visitors, but Pyatsky came up with the save.

The Bloodhounds embark on a three-match road trip, beginning on Saturday, September 24 as John Jay travels to New London, CT to tangle with Mitchell College.

Kickoff is set for noon.
